Functional and sleek multi-cooker
"My family and I love this rice cooker! I purchased this 5 years ago and it's still going strong. Definitely worth the investment and plays a cute song once cooking is completed. It's multi-functional and looks much nicer in the kitchen than most other appliances. We mainly use it for rice and have also tried a few different recipes such as Korean steamed ribs from the recipe book, easy one-pot meals, and the food turns out amazing every time. It's easy to clean, durable, and has a large capacity. However, there does appear to be a design flaw at the back--every time we cook rice, when we open the lid, the water will run down and spill out of the water catcher and onto the counter, getting the electrical cord wet. It doesn't affect the cooking function but does seem to be a hazard. I'm not sure if there's a way to prevent this but we take care to wipe up the pool of water each time behind the cooker each time we make rice. I also wish there were more Cuckoo recipes available on the website."

The parts are easy to remove and clean and it's quite intuitive. It requires some patience in exploring at first, but once you get it, it's really simple. The auto-steam release, attached lid, elegant design, and stainless steel inner pot option is what sold me on this product over other competitor brands that I've seen, which often I find out break within a year or so. - Should I regularly need to change the rubber and the inner pot? If yes, where can I find them and how often changing?
- Hello, The rubber packing and inner pot do need to be changed periodically. The average amount of time is 2-4 years. The frequency is determined on the condition of the replacement parts and varies by user. Especially in the case of the inner pot, the user care determines the longevity of good condition. We recommend washing with soft sponge, not washing in dish washer, and air drying or drying with soft cloth as well as only using plastic utensils to serve the rice out of the inner pot to prevent scratches. - Does the black "midnight" stainless version work to steam without pressure? The manual indicates very vaguely that steaming is without pressure; and that you can turn it off, but the instructions to do so do not remove it. The pressure light is still always on.
- Hi Li! Thank you for your question. CMC-QSB501S model is a Multi-Pressure Cooker with a "Pressure Weight Nozzle" and the cooking chamber would be "pressurized" when heat is applied, regardless of what function you are using. This applies to the steam function as well. Thank you!

- Hi Li! Thank you for your question. The CMC-QSB501S is Multi-Pressure Cooker. It requires the lid to be closed, and pressure builds inside the cooking chamber whenever heat is applied. To answer your question, you cannot boil water with the lid open. With the lid closed, the time it takes to boil one cup of water will depend on several things, including altitude, ambient temperature, temperature of the water, and Heat Level Setting. Thank you!

Although the water should be hot enough to steam within 5 minutes, the amount of water you are using as well as the surrounding environment (ambient temperature, altitude) will affect how fast the water boils.
