- – Method 1. Choose the Automatic Sterilization menu with the “Menu/Select” button, then press the “Pressure Cook/Turbo” button.
- – Method 2. Press Auto Clean in the waiting mode, then press the Pressure Cook/Glutin Turbo button.
Melanoizing effect
The cooked rice can be light yellow at the bottom of the inner pot because this product is designed to improve pleasant flavor and taste (melanoizing). This is more pronounced in “Preset cooking” than in regular “Cooking”, and does not indicate a malfunction. ※ When mixing other rice with Glutinous, the melanoizing effect could increase.
What is Blackout Compensation
This product remembers and maintains the previous condition and processes. After a blackout it operates immediately. If a blackout occurs during cooking, cooking will be delayed depending on the blackout time. ‘Warming’ will be cancelled if a blackout occurs.

For Scorched Rice (Korean Crispy Rice Snack)
For Scorched Rice (Korean Crispy Rice Snack): select the “Scorched Rice” menu and press the Pressure Cook/Turbo button. Scorched rice cooking feeds 2~4 persons and takes approximately 38~41 minutes.
HOW TO USE GABA RICE (BROWN RICE)
What is Germinated Brown Rice?
Brown rice has richer nutrients than polished rice; however, it is rather tough and hard to digest. By germination, the enzymes in the brown rice are activated, generating nutrients and making it easier to digest.
Features of Germinated Brown Rice
- – Taste will be greatly enhanced.
- – Easier to digest and rich in nutrients. A diabetic hormone is generated, improving digestion.
- – Good as a health food for children or adults — rich in dietary fiber.
- – Germinated brown rice is rich in GABA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid). GABA promotes metabolism in the liver and kidneys, suppresses neutral fat, lowers blood pressure, and promotes metabolism in brain cells — proven by medical science.
Using the “GABA” Menu
In order to promote germination, soak brown rice for up to 16 hours in water.
- Put washed brown rice in an appropriate container and pour sufficient water to soak the rice. Pre-germination shall not exceed 16 hours.
- Rinse the rice clean with flowing water before using “GABA” menu; do not rinse too much or the embryos required to germinate may wear off.
- When pre-germination is complete, wash the rice, insert the inner pot, pour appropriate water and use “GABA” menu.
- During summer or hot environments an odor may be generated — reduce germination time and wash clean.
Set the Lock/Unlock handle at Lock and press the Menu button to select “GABA”.
- When cooking brown rice with or without germination, select “Brown Rice” option and start cooking.
Press the Pressure Cook/Glutin. Turbo button.
- The brown rice will germinate for the set time and cooking will start after germination is complete. Remaining time is displayed. When “GABA” is selected, “3H” is indicated.
Precautions
If a smaller germ is preferred, omit pre-germination; select “GABA” menu, set germination time and start cooking (nutrients do not vary significantly by germ size).
During hot seasons, longer germination time may generate odor — reduce germination time.
GABA cooking feeds up to 6 people.
City water can be used; filtered or drinkable water is recommended. Germination may not work in hot or boiled water even after cooling.
Germination rate and germ growth may differ by type, condition or storage period of the brown rice (use rice within 1 year from harvest, not long since pounded).
In GABA mode, preset on 3H may not be possible. To preset, set up the BROWN RICE menu.
Taste can differ by type of brown rice — use the customized taste function or adjust the water amount.
Depending on the environment or rice condition, the sprout may not be visible.
HOW TO USE PRESET / MULTI-COOK FUNCTION
How to Preset Timer for Cooking
Turn the Lock/Unlock handle to the lock position (a lock icon is displayed), then press the “Preset” button.
- Set the preset time within 7 seconds after pressing Preset.
- To set preset during warming mode, stop warming by pressing Cancel first.
Press the Time button to set the preset time.
- Each press adds 10 minutes. Preset time ranges from 1 hour to 12 hours 50 minutes.
- GABA rice cannot be preset with the 3H setting — to preset, select “Brown Rice”.
- If no option is set, the default is Glutin. Rice.
Press the Menu/Selection button to select the menu.
- If you don't operate within 7 seconds after pressing Preset, the preset mode starts automatically.
- When preset begins, the preset light stops blinking and the time counts down until preset cooking starts.
Press the Pressure Cook/Turbo button.
- The preset time displayed is the remaining time until cooking completes. (Completion time may vary with use condition or cooking capacity.)
Precautions for Preset Cooking
- – In case of preset cooking: if the rice is old and dry, the result may not be good; if the rice is not well cooked, add water by about half a scale; a longer preset time may increase melanization.
- – To change the preset time, press “Cancel” for more than 2 seconds and restart.
How to Use Multi-Cook
- – Turn the top handle to “Lock” and press the menu to select Multi-Cook. The display indicates 20 minutes.
- – Set the time with the Time button. Each press of “Selection” increases the time 5 minutes; available range is 10~90 minutes.
- – Press the “Pressure Cook/Turbo” button. The remaining time is displayed when Multi-Cook begins.
FOR THE BEST TASTE OF RICE / TO KEEP COOKED RICE WARM
For the Best Taste of Rice
- – When measuring rice, use the measuring cup (the amount may vary with rice quality). Place the inner pot on a flat surface and adjust water to the inner-pot water line.
- – If the amount of water and rice differ, the rice can be crisp or hard.
- – Buy a small amount of rice and store it where it ventilates well and avoids direct light to prevent moisture loss. If rice has been unsealed for long, add half a scale more water for a better taste.
- – If the rice is too dry, it can be crisp even when measured properly.
- – If possible, do not use the preset function when rice is too dry; add half a scale more water. Setting “Preset” over 10 hours or on dried rice can make rice crisp or half cooked.
- – A longer preset time increases the melanoizing effect.
- – If rice is kept warm for a long time, its color and odor will change. Keep “warm” less than 12 hours. Wipe the top cover heating part clean of any rice or external substance.
Cautions for Keeping Warm
- It will be hard to open the lid during warming or right after cooking — push the pressure weight to the side and allow the steam to release.
- Make sure the handle is in the “Lock” position during warming or reheating.
- It is recommended to evenly stir the cooked rice after cooking to improve taste. (For a small quantity, pile the rice in the center of the inner pot to keep warm.)
- Keep warm less than 12 hours due to odor and color change. Pressure-cooked rice changes color more easily than rice from a general cooker.
- During warm mode, rice can rise and turn white — mix the rice in this case.
- Do not keep the rice spatula inside the pot while warming; a wooden spatula can create bacteria and odors.
- Do not mix a small amount of rice or leftovers with the rice being kept warm — it may cause odor. (Use a microwave oven for cold rice.)
- Mixed and brown rice do not keep as well as white rice, so do not keep them warm for a long period.
When Odors Rise During Warming
- – Clean the lid frequently — neglect can cause growth of bacteria and odors.
- – Even if the exterior looks clean, there might be germs and odor, so use the automatic sterilization (steam cleaning) menu, then clean the inner pot completely afterward.
- – Clean the inner pot properly to prevent rice from smelling after you cook soups and steamed dishes.
Controlling the Warming Temperature
If the keep-warm temperature is not set properly, an odor or discoloration may occur even with frequent cleaning. The temperature needs to be set.
- – Press the Auto Clean button for 3 seconds in the waiting mode to enter the warming temperature setting mode. The current keep-warm temperature is shown.
- – Press the Menu/Selection button so the display shifts.
- – After setting the desired temperature, press the Pressure Cook/Glutin Turbo or Keep Warm/Reheat button to save it and return to waiting mode. (Pressing Cancel or waiting 7 seconds cancels.)
- – When you smell a bad odor and the rice is too watery: the keep-warm temperature is too low — increase it by 1~2℃.
- – When the rice is yellowish or too dry: the keep-warm temperature is too high — decrease it by 1~2℃.
My Mode (Customized Keep Warm)
- – My Mode (Customized Keep Warm): use when there is too much water or rice becomes too soft when you open the lid.
- – Press the Auto Clean button for 3 seconds in the waiting mode, then press Auto Clean once to enter the customized Keep Warm setting mode.
- – Press the Menu/Selection button so the display shifts, set the desired value, then press Pressure Cook/Glutin Turbo or Keep Warm/Reheat to save.
- – If too much water spills when opening the lid: raise the setting. If the edge of the rice is too soft: lower the setting.
HOW TO CLEAN
| Part | How to clean |
|---|---|
| Inner Pot | Wipe the inner, upper, and outer parts of the inner pot of any alien substance. |
| Top Cover | If there is rice water on the lid, wipe it with a wet towel. The center of the lid is metal, so beware when cleaning. |
| Oven Packing / Top Heater | Wipe the top cover with a damp cloth. Be careful when cleaning the top heater plate. |
| Dew Dish | Rice water from cooking gathers in the dish through the steam outlet — wipe it clean with a wet towel after cooking. |
| Inner Body | If foreign substances are stuck on the temperature sensor, remove them without damaging the metal plate. Wipe the heat plate clean of substances or moisture. |
| Control / Lid Open Button | If the cooker is stained with rice broth or foreign matter, wipe with a damp dishcloth. Wipe around the Lid Open button before and after use. If buttons do not function, contact customer service. |
| Main Unit | Wipe the main unit with a damp cloth. |
Caution when cleaning
- Do not clean the inner pot with any sharp cutlery inside (fork, spoon, chopsticks, etc.) — the coating may peel off.
How to Clean the Dew Dish
Separate the dew dish.
Separate the drain ditch cap by pushing it down.
Clean the drain ditch cap and dew dish with a neutral detergent.
Securely put in the dew dish after cleaning.
Insert the dew dish firmly by pressing it in the direction of the arrow.
How to Clean the Pressure Weight Nozzle
- – If the valve hole of the pressure weight is clogged, puncture it with the cleaning pin. The valve hole allows steam to release — check regularly to ensure it is not blocked; a blocked hole can cause serious injury from hot steam and content.
- – To disassemble: under the Lock/Unlock handle is the steam cap that guards the pressure weight. Remove the steam cap, turn the pressure weight counter-clockwise while pulling up until it comes out.
- – Puncture the clogged valve hole with the cleaning pin and reassemble by turning clockwise. When properly assembled, the pressure weight turns freely.
- ※ Do not use the cleaning pin for any other use except to clean the valve hole of the pressure weight. (Cleaning pin can be purchased separately at a Cuckoo service center.)
How to Clean the Soft Steam Cap
- – Do not touch the surface of the soft steam cap right after cooking — you can get burned.
- – Peel off the soft steam cap by grasping the dented part with your fingers and pulling to the side while lifting gently.
- – Detach the cap by pressing down (in the direction of the arrow) and wash the inside frequently with a kitchen cleaner or sponge.
- – When installing, insert the ① part as shown and press the ② part firmly to secure it.
How to Use the Handle
- – After cooking, turn the handle from “Lock” to “Unlock” to open. If there is unreleased steam, it may be hard to turn — twist the pressure weight to let excess steam out. Do not open by force.
- – The handle must be turned to “Unlock” when opening and closing. If the lamp does not turn on, the ‘Cook’ and ‘Preset’ buttons will not operate — make sure the handle is in “Lock”.
- – When the top cover does not close perfectly, do not force it. Check the inner pot is placed correctly, turn the handle to unlock, and if excess steam makes it hard to lock, twist the pressure weight to release steam, then try again.
CHECK BEFORE ASKING FOR SERVICE
