It is more noticeable during preset cooking. Mixing other types of rice with white rice may intensify the browning. This is not a malfunction.
How to Open Cook
Open Cooking allows the user to temporarily release the smart locking device during a non-pressure cooking process, so the lid can be safely opened to add ingredients or stir the contents.
During a non-pressure menu cooking process, press the START/OPEN COOKING button.
Wait for the smart locking device to release.
- This may take between 5 to 60 seconds.
Once the display indicates it is safe to open the lid, proceed to do so.
- You will hear โPlease open the lid.โ Do not press the Open Lid button while the remaining time is displayed or during cooking โ only when the Add Ingredients indicator is illuminated.
After opening the lid, close it within 3 minutes.
- If the lid remains open for more than 3 minutes, cooking is automatically canceled.
Cautions for Open Cooking
Do not exceed the designated capacity; the appliance may overflow due to boiling.
The inner pot will not be heated while the lid is open.
Burn Hazard: Do not remove the detachable cover while in use. Only close the lid when the inner pot and detachable cover are properly assembled.
Pressing the lid clamp knob while the smart locking device is activated may damage the appliance. Only press the Open Lid button when the Add Ingredients indicator is active.
If the lid does not open after open cooking or non-pressure cooking, unlock the smart locking device using the cover, then push the clamp knob to open.
If โEL1โ appears, contact Customer Service. If โEL2โ appears, do not open the lid until cooking is complete; if it occurs during warming/standby, turn off the power before opening.
How to Preset Timer for Cooking / Reheating Function
How to Use the Timer for Cooking
For example, if itโs nine oโclock in the evening and you want warm breakfast at 7:40 the next morning:
Ensure the current time is correct.
- If the current time is not set correctly, the preset cooking time will also be inaccurate. Be sure to set the correct AM/PM time.
Turn the Lock/Unlock Handle toward โHIGH PRESSUREโ or โNON PRESSUREโ, then press the MODE button to select โTIMER.โ
- Hold the MODE button at least 0.3 seconds the first time; each press moves one step.
- In High Pressure mode, the preset timer cannot be used with GABA Rice (3H), Hi-Pressure Quick White Rice, or Quick Sticky Multi Grain Rice.
- To preset a timer while in Warm mode, press Cancel to exit Keep Warm, then configure the preset timer.
Set the preset time using the arrow buttons and press OK.
- Each press of an arrow button increases the preset time by 10 minutes (holding continues the adjustment). Be careful not to switch between AM and PM.
Select a menu using the arrow buttons and press START.
- Cooking begins and completes as scheduled. Once completed, the time setting is saved. If a small quantity of rice is cooked, it may finish earlier than the preset time.
How to Use the Preset Reheating Function
Use this when cooked rice is not kept warm but you still want a hot meal later. It takes about 100 minutes to fully reheat; set the timer at least 100 minutes before your mealtime.
Ensure the current time is correct.
- Confirm the current time so reheating ends on time. Avoid confusion between AM and PM.
Turn the Lock/Unlock Handle to โHIGH PRESSUREโ and press the MODE button to select โREHEAT TIMER.โ
- Hold MODE at least 0.3 seconds the first time. Ensure the handle is securely at High Pressure before using REHEAT TIMER.
Use the arrow buttons to set the desired completion time (each press = 10 minutes; holding adjusts continuously). Avoid switching AM/PM.
Press the START button.
- Reheating begins and completes as scheduled. Once completed, the time is saved โ no need to reconfigure.
Precautions for Preset Cooking / Reheating
In Case of Preset Cooking
- If the rice is old and dry, the results may be poor. If undercooked, add water up to half the scale.
- A longer preset time may increase browning (melanoidin). Rinsed rice contains residual starch, which may cause burning โ rinse thoroughly in running water or reduce the quantity to reduce scorching.
In Case of Preset Reheating
- Leaving cooked rice at room temperature can cause moisture to evaporate; reheating may dry the rice or cause slight browning.
- Reheat portions no larger than for three people (about half the inner pot). Reheating cold/frozen rice may cause uneven heating; loosen cold rice with a scoop first, and fully thaw frozen rice before reheating.
Changing the Preset Time
- Press and hold CANCEL for more than 0.3 seconds, then restart the process.
If the Preset Time Is Outside the Available Range
- If the preset time is shorter than the cooking duration, cooking starts immediately. If the reheating preset time is shorter than 100 minutes, reheating starts immediately.
If the Preset Time Exceeds 13 Hours
- โ13Hโ will be displayed and the preset time is automatically limited to 13 hours. (e.g. setting 7:00 AM finish at 5:00 PM = 14 hours โ resets to 6:00 AM.)
- โ If the preset time exceeds 13 hours, it may result in spoilage or a bad odor; the 13-hour limit helps prevent spoiling, especially in hot weather.
- โ Use Preset Cooking for finish times between 1 and 13 hours; use Preset Reheating when the finish time falls between 100 minutes and 13 hours.
- โ Press the START button during preset cooking to check the current time; it is displayed for 2 seconds.
- โ Preset timer is not available for GABA Rice (3H), Hi-Pressure Quick White Rice, or Quick Sticky Multi Grain Rice.
