How to Cook Tastier Rice

Follow the instructions below for better-tasting rice:

How to Cook Tastier Rice
Tip How Why
Measure rice with a measuring cup. Pour the rice according to the measuring cup. (The amount of rice measured by a commercial rice container may vary depending on the container type or brand.) If the amount of water is incorrect for rice amount, the rice may be undercooked or overcooked.
Pour water up to the water level line of the inner pot. Adjust water amount to the water level line after placing the inner pot on a flat surface.
Storing the rice correctly. Purchase rice in small quantities to ensure freshness. For dried rice that has been unpacked for a long time, use slightly more water when cooking (about half a water level line more.) If the rice is extra dry, add more water to increase the likelihood of better tasting rice.
Itโ€™s better to set a shorter timer when using the timer cooking function. For dried-up rice, avoid using the timer function if possible, and add extra water (about half a water level line more). Timer cooking over 10 hours or with dried rice may cause rice to be undercooked, scorched or cooked unevenly.
Do not exceed 12 hours in โ€œKeep Warm Modeโ€ Exceeding 12 hours in โ€œKeep Warm Modeโ€ may decrease the quality of your cooked rice. Exceeding the โ€œKeep Warmโ€ time limit of 12 hours may cause discoloration of the rice.
Keep your cooker clean at all times Clean your cooker frequently. Wipe foreign materials from the lid frequently. By not cleaning your cooker, it can compromise the quality of your rice.

HOW TO USE โ€œGABA RICEโ€

What is germinated Brown Rice?

Brown rice is more nutritious but harder to digest than white rice. Germination activates enzymes, making it easier to digest and more nutritious.

Tips to Buy Quality Brown Rice

  • Use rice harvested within 1 year and pounded within 3 months.
  • Choose grains that are light yellow, glossy, and intact.
  • Avoid grains that are dark, cracked, or hollow.

Using โ€˜GABA RICEโ€™ Menu

  1. To promote germination, soak brown rice in water for 16 hours before cooking.
    • Method of Pre-germination
    • Wash brown rice and place it in a container with enough water to fully soak the rice.
    • Do not soak for more than 16 hours. Wash thoroughly with running water before using the GABA RICE menu.
    • Avoid washing too roughly, as this can damage the germ.
    • A mild odor may develop depending on soaking time and temperature.
    • After soaking, drain and place rice with fresh water into the inner pot.
    • In hot environments, reduce soaking time and rinse well to prevent odor.
  2. In standby mode, press the MENU/SELECTION button to select "GABA RICE".
    • When the โ€œGABA Riceโ€ is selected, โ€œ0Hโ€ is indicated in the display.
  3. Press the "TIME" button to adjust germination time in 3-hour increments.
    • โ€˜GABA RICEโ€™ time can be set up by 0,3 hours.
    • โ€ป First setting time 0H(0 Hours)
  4. Press โ€œCOOK/TURBOโ€ button
    • โ˜ž If GABA time is set to 0H, press the "COOK/TURBO" button to start cooking immediately. Use 0H to cook brown rice without germination or to cook already germinated rice.
    • โ€ป 3 more hours for germination
    • Press the COOK/TURBO button to start the GABA RICE process. Cooking will begin immediately.
    • During GABA RICE mode, the display will show the remaining time in minutes, with the 3H indicator moving clockwise.

Precautions for โ€˜Brown GABAโ€™ Cooking

  1. If smaller germ is preferred, skip the pre-germination process. Select the "GABA RICE" menu, set the desired germination time, and start cooking. (Nutrient content is not significantly affected by germ size.)
  2. In hot seasons, longer germination times may cause odor. Reduce germination time as needed.
  3. GABA RICE cooking is suitable for up to 6 servings.
  4. Tap water may be used for germination, but spring water is recommended. Do not use hot or boiled water, even after cooling.
  5. Germination rate and growth may vary depending on rice type, storage conditions, and age.
    • Germinated brown rice is sprouted brown rice, and results may vary by rice type.
    • Use brown rice harvested within 1 year and recently pounded for best results.
  6. In GABA mode, setting a preset timer with 3H may not be possible.
  7. The taste of rice may vary depending on the type of brown rice used. Adjust taste or water amount as desired. (See โ€œHOW TO USE CUSTOMIZED RICE TASTE/COOKING FUNCTIONโ€.)
  8. Depending on conditions or rice type, sprouts may not always be visible.
